STEM CELL THERAPY
Stem cells are unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division, sometimes after long periods of inactivity. Under certain conditions, they can be induced to develop into tissue or organ specific cells with special functions, where they can regularly divide to repair and replace worn out or damaged tissues. In adult tissues, such as bone marrow, muscle and the brain, discrete populations of adult stem cells generate replacements for cells that are lost through wear and tear, injury or disease. This is what the Stem Cell Institute specializes in with our stem cell treatments.
Stem cell treatment offers qualified patients a chance to not only manage and mitigate their pain, but address the very source of their pain on a cellular level, encouraging cell growth, repair and regeneration. As such, recipients of the treatment experience more sustained results. Patients looking to restore mobility and improve quality of life can have their own stem cell treatment program to treat a plethora of diseases and ailments at the Stem Cell Institute, located in Plano, Texas where we custom tailor your treatment to your specific needs.
BENEFITS OF STEM CELL THERAPY
Stem Cells are thought to trigger the repair functions of the body via 5 primary mechanisms:
Provides anti-inflammatory effect to ease pain symptoms
Inhibiting apoptosis (the process of programmed cell death & cell birth in the body)
Homing to damaged tissues & recruiting other cells (such as progenitor cells that are necessary for tissue growth)
Supporting tissue remodeling over scar tissue & formations
Differentiating the necessity of division into bone, cartilage, tendon & ligament tissue, as needed
SVF - Stromal Vascular Fraction
Stromal Vascular Fraction Stem Cell Therapy, otherwise known as SVF, includes the drawing of stromal vascular fraction cells for stem cell reproduction. A physician uses liposuction to remove fat from adipose tissue, a tissue that stores fat for energy, in the stomach. The SVF cells in the fat contain elements like growth factors, fibroblasts, red blood cells, white blood cells and other various types of cells. The vascular tissue, a complex, supportive tissue, in the SVF cells is separated from the adipocyte tissue, which composes a majority of the SVF cell and consists of fat. The vascular tissue is washed, spun, tested for cell count and placed in an IV for patient injection. SVF is safe in that only the patient’s fat is used, and the Stem Cell Institute involves no cord blood or embryonic stem cells in its procedures.
Proliferative therapy, or prolotherapy, is a procedure that boosts the body’s healing process to heal injured joints or tissue. Prolotherapy involves injecting a specific formula into the body at the site of an injury to speed the healing process. Stem cell prolotherapy specifically consists of using one’s own cells from bone marrow, blood or fat, modifying the cells through a process and injecting them into an area of pain or injury. Several forms of prolotherapy exist and are used to repair injured tissues.
Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy
As one ages, his or her growth factors become older and less effective. They are not able to heal wounds fully, correctly and quickly. Therefore, when an injury occurs, growth factors may need extra help to ensure the injury is completely healed. If the injury does not heal correctly, it could cause further health problems. Athletes who also may need to heal quickly to participate in upcoming events or training need strong growth factors. Platelet-rich plasma therapy, or PRP, multiplies the power of mending by growth factors to repair the wound quickly and correctly. Physicians administer PRP, a fairly new treatment, through injection at the point of pain or injury. The Stem Cell Institute serves the Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen and Carrollton areas for patients in need of PRP.
